Car Boot Treasures (or Tat?)

Most Sunday mornings I spend the same way – at a Car Boot Sale.  My UK readers will of course know what I am talking about – but I’m not sure if they are strictly a British phenomenon.  In many places it involves standing in an often cold, wet, muddy field rummaging through tables of other people’s unwanted things…

Thankfully the one nearest to me, at Frome, is in a car park and if raining is taken inside to the Cattle Market (I rather enjoy everyone lining up in the pens like sheep!  Here are my friends  Mikey (looking at toys – surprise…) and Anna (with little Dave the Chihuahua) enjoying a rainy day at the Car Booty as Mikey calls it.

It’s always fascinating to me how one person’s tat is another person’s treasure!  Here are some of my favourite pieces of treasure from my scavenging at Frome…

As you may have seen on my previous posts about vintage items, I love old-fashioned trimmings, needles and yarn.  Most of these I pick up for a few pence each – bargaintastic!

These magazines were a little bit more pricey, at around £1 each, (last of the big spenders…)  But they are so fantastic, apart from the funky patterns, the ads are hilariously dated.

It seems Mikey has a saying for everything – when we’re off to the Car Booty his usual cry is “get your bits and bobs here”.  Indeed we do!

Happy crafting!

I always used to go to that car boot every week when I was younger….I just could never remember where it was, I do how ever remember always trying to find beanie babies. 🙂
